August 19, 2016 – Recruiting, training and retaining skilled workers is a critical issue facing many manufacturers – both in our region and across the state. Last month the SRMA (Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association) supported manufacturers and executives from other Regional Manufacturers Associations (RMAs) at a meeting of the Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Leadership Council, hosted by FloridaMakes at Polk State College in Bartow.
The Leadership Council is part of a broader initiative by CareerSource Florida and FloridaMakes, with support from the RMAs, designed to inform strategies for Florida’s current and future manufacturing workforce development, and strengthen our statewide manufacturing ecosystem.
This fall, there will be a series of focus groups with manufacturers across the state that will help gather business intelligence on the future needs of Florida’s advanced manufacturing workforce. We’ll follow up with more information on these focus groups so that our manufacturers can contribute to this important initiative that will help shape and engage our future workforce.
